Does he have actual reason to believe this guy is telling the truth? No. In fact this guy has a face best culturally associated with lies. At least after exposure to Asgardians he accepts the clothing and weaponry as another layer of detail.
But Steve does believe him. There's no actual reason for the man to lie. Especially not while being non-threatening.
"It's always something," he mumbles.
He's never heard of Baulder's Gate, or a mindflayer - though that's a hell of a descriptive name. He'll have questions once he's through the most immediate concern.
He sighs, wearily but quietly and drops his hand again. That he mostly seems irritated and tired says a lot about either Steve or how the past few years have gone. "All right. What kills them? How do they do with fire?" Can he just blow this up? Please?
